Carmen Elizabeth Teresa Pamela Borges

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Carmen was born on April 21st, 2009 at 9:09 am weighing in at 7 pounds 2 ounces. I think the only real surprise is her hair. Carmen has light hair. Almost reddish. She is a cutie though, we love her very much. She has a huge appetite, much like her brother did, but sleeps much better. I have never seen so much pink in my life. Lucky for me the princess word has not been used yet. Today she is 2 weeks old

All Grown Up

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

N518915359 5484837 2209-1Shortly after noon on February 21st my baby sister became a mommie. She and Mark are proud parents of baby Hannah weighing in at 1.2 pounds. It hasn’t been easy for my sister , a bit of a rough week . I hear that she has been a real trooper through it all. I wish everyday that I could have been there for her but circumstances wouldn’t let me. All I wanted was to give her a big hug, tell her that I love her and that things would be ok. I have no doubt that she will be a great mom. Xavier just loved her when he last saw her. She taught him how to wink and her name was the first he learned outside of mom and dad. I can still see him sitting at the bottom of my parents stairs looking up and calling out to Caaathy. She made him laugh.

N515721801 62317 1141My sister and I have had some fun times, she was my date at my LPN graduation, she was my drunk buddy when I came home one year from Toronto and she brings out the real Newfie accent in me. She would always seem to call me when she had a few drinks in her. She became a real chatty Cathy and then she would get sentimental and cry. Now , I guess we start a new era in our relationship. Being moms together. My only piece of advice to her is not to listen to others peoples advice. Trust your own judgement. We learn by our own mistakes.
Hang in there kiddo, I love you very much

It’s gonna be a girl!

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Today we found out it’s gonna be a girl. Wow! Not what I expected, would of bet my life on a boy. Good thing I am not the betting kind. It will be the first grand daughter for my parents. Oh God please don’t let any one use the princess word. I figure she will have the worst genes from Miguel and I. Xavier got the soft curly hair and blue eyes, this little one will have hair like a brillo pad and brown eyes. I think I will have to start saving now for hair straighteners and lots of conditioner. I’m glad she will have a big brother to watch over her. I know he won’t think much of her when she is born but I know he’ll love her and take care of her. Xavier is a wonderful caring and loving boy. She will be so lucky to have him for a big brother. We have a name but Miguel is being protective over it. Her middle name will be Elizabeth after my mother and then Pamela. She will be beautiful. I just know it. It is 68 days and counting

Happy Birthday Xavier!

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Two years ago my little Xavier was born. I should have known he was going to be a mama’s boy when he didn’t want come out even with a C-section. I don’t remember a whole lot just a couple of things, like Miguel telling me I am doing great while in the shower and I got so mad I swore at him, the only time I think swore at him during labor. I remember the nurse coming up from emerg to put the IV, my neighbor at the time, and I remember Miguel telling me he was going to pass out while I was getting the epidural.

The best memory is Miguel telling me it was a boy and he had big feet

A Snowy Week in Prince Rupert.

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

I think we have had snow every day this week. It was nice to have a white Christmas. Ordinarily it rains here. Xavier enjoyed the snow lots. He would run to get his hat and stuff to go out and cry and scream because he didn’t want to come in. “No mama no”. I think he is really enjoying the holiday season.

Merry Christmas

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

Christmas was very fun this year. Xavier was so excited. He loved his pirate ship, it was the first thing he saw when he came down stairs. Then he realized that there was a bunch of gifts under the tree. Every gift he opened he stashed away in his pirate ship. We ate turkey and my special smashed potatoes and then Xavier and Miguel settled down for a nap

April

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

It seems that April 21st will be the birthday of our latest addition, Miguel version 2.1. I say that cause I am 100% convinced it is a boy. If you look at the ultrasound pictures you will be too

My first trip alone

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Tomorrow i go to Vancouver for a few days, by myself. I am not guessing it will be too much fun. It is work related and I have a terrible cold on top of feeling pregnant. Maybe some shopping will cheer me up. Don’t worry Miguel, I won’t go too crazy and yes, I’ll bring you back a surprise. This is what I’ll miss

1st day of my new job!

Monday, September 15th, 2008

I have a huge headache today. It is the first day of my new job. Total information overload. I second guessed my decision to give up nursing all day. I hope that tomorrow is a better day. 144 kilometers to think it all over. On a brighter much happier note, I am 8 weeks today.

Adventures in Pregnancy

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

It seems that being pregnant brings out the adventurer in me. When I was 5 months pregnant with Xavier I hiked the side of a mountain and at 6 months I went duck hunting. Today I went looking for salamanders with my family and Peter Freeman. Well, not that I did much looking. I don’t enjoy digging around old logs but it was nice to be out in the woods.
